VALENTINE'S JUBILANT MATH (VJM) is a system of math instruction developed by Walt Valentine (Mr. V). VJM offers math learning as a collection of skills that require practice.
Mr. V believes that math is stored in memory traces that are connected in the brain to each other by neurons. Success in math depends on the development and connection of these memory traces.
Traditional math instruction was developed in a world without computers and brilliantly taught math in the most efficient way possible in classrooms with many children and one instructor. About one in five students developed math skills sufficient to progress onto the Calculus. Common Core and other systems which talk poorly of traditional math have not been an improvement. I don't know where those people store understanding.
